FOX CONSTRUCTION; CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FAQs

Updated: Aug 10, 2023

As a well established construction company, we know it can be daunting when starting a new project, and we know the importance of finding a company that aligns with you. Below, we have answered some of our most frequently asked questions, in a bid to ease your worries and assure you that we can deliver what you need.

It’s important to stick to my budget, can you manage this accordingly?

We understand, for many of our clients, that delivering within a budget is the primary project objective. At Fox Construction we carry out regular reviews of the cost-to-date against planned expenditure and anticipate the cost to completion. This way we can ensure that decisions are made in a timely fashion to keep the project delivery within budget, and on schedule.

Will you be managing the team?

Absolutely! We assign a site manager to each project. They will be in charge of managing all aspects of project delivery, ensuring everything remains on schedule, on budget, and to your specifications.

What if I have an issue?

That’s ok! We expect our site and project managers to be able to deal effectively with any issues that may arise, but Kevin and John, the business owners, are always available when necessary. We prioritise your needs and make sure you are happy with project progression at every stage so if there are any issues we like to get those resolved as soon as possible.

Do you tackle the paperwork?

Yes, we submit all subcontract and material orders, and liaise directly with the design team, local planning department, building control and statutory providers. This removes the stress from you, so you can focus on the design element to ensure the project is going in the direction that you had envisioned.

Will you commission all of the surveys needed?

Yes we regularly commission site surveys, geotechnical investigations, asbestos surveys, as well as ecological and environmental surveys. We try to keep this part of the process as simple as possible as we know it can be a confusing step.

How long does a typical construction project take?

This is difficult to say and varies hugely depending on project size, site location and logistical issues. Projects rarely take less than six months and more complex schemes can take up to two years to complete. But like we said, this varies hugely due to the variables of working with external subcontractors, the weather and resolving any issues that may arise.

Do you deal with the planning permission etc?

Yes, we can put together the planning application submissions and deal with the Local Planning Authority as and when required. We know that this part of the process can be a minefield of paperwork and jargon. That’s why we offer this service, to ease your worries and to keep your project moving forward with as little delay and disruption as possible.

Do you deal with health and safety management?

Yes, we are SMAS accredited and all our site managers have appropriate health and safety training, so you needn’t worry about that. The safety of our team and any site contractors are our top priority for each and every project. We know that accidents can happen, but our diligent approach reduces these accidents massively.

Are you on hand to deal with design queries?

Yes, our teams are well versed with handling design queries, often without needing to refer to the project design team thanks to our extensive experience in this field, but we are more than happy to liaise with them when necessary.
